FOOTHILL TREE FRUIT GROWER MEETING -

Lynn Wunderlich, local U.C. Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor for El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, invites foothill fruit growers to a “Grower’s Tree Fruit Meeting”
Featured speakers include Dr. Scott Johnson, UC Pomology Specialist from the Kearney Ag. Center near Fresno, CA., who will discuss strategies for irrigating orchards during periods of drought. Chuck Ingels, UC Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor in Sacramento County, will give an update on what’s new in orchard floor and nutrient management for organic growers.
Dr. Bob VanSteenwyk, UC Berkeley, will give apple and pear growers the heads up on new codling moth and wooly apple aphid insecticides. Dr. VanSteenwyk will also present the latest information on control of Spotted Wing Drosophila, a new pest in cherries. Local Farm Advisor Lynn Wunderlich will provide an update on foothill fruit tree disease management. El Dorado County Agricultural Commissioner Charlene Carveth will provide a grower laws and regulations update.
There is a registration fee of $5 per person and 1 hour of laws and 2 hours of “other” Dept. of Pesticide Regulation credits are applied for. Pre-register by February 14th.
