Jackson’s Mine Model Tours reopen
Jackson’s Mine Model Tours are open again. Bring family and friends to this historical entertainment experience and learn how hardrock miners brought the gold up from more than a mile underground. Kennedy Mine Model Tours are on Saturdays at 11 am and noon. Groups, schools and organizations are welcome any day by appointment. The mine model building is in the parking lot next to the Amador County Museum on Church Street in Jackson. Applications now available for potential Miss Ione candidates
Applications are now being accepted for the Annual Miss Ione Scholarship Pageant. This event offers a $1000 scholarship to the winner to be used for vocational or college education. Applicants must be 16 to 18 years old, a resident of the Ione community and hold a GPA of 2.0. Judging is based on speech or talent, an interview, essay, and evening gown competition. The pageant is scheduled for May 5th at Ione Elementary School. For information and applications, contact Pageant Chairperson, Lori Haney at 419-1519.


Sweethearts Dinner Dance | Friday, Feb 10 2012
The Amador County Concert band and "Pick Up the Baton" community music program present "Sweethearts Dinner Dance" featuring the 12-piece Speakeasy Jazz Orchestra, at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Rd., Jackson, from 6 to 9:30pm. Tickets are $20 each, $35 per couple, and include dinner, dessert and wine. Seating is limited to 100. For more info, call 295-3190. Ticket must be purchased by Fe. 6th.



DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION - Sat Feb 11 at 12:30PM at the Church of the Nazarene. The public is invited to attend the next meeting of the Sierra Amador Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Ione Native Sons present "Sweetheart Swing", a night of classic rock and roll, with live entertainment provided by 30 Years After @ 7pm. Doors and bar open at 6pm at the Evalynn Bishop Hall, in Ione. $5 cover.


Love A "Fair" | Saturday, Feb 11 2012
Love A "Fair" black and white ball will be a romantic evening with dinner, no-host bar and dancing. All proceeds benefit the Amador County Fair Foundation, which supports improvements to the county fair facilities and programs. Award winning Western singer and songwriter Dave Stamey will hold center stage at the Friends of the Amador County Library fundraiser, Books n' Boots, at 2pm at the American Legion Hall, 12134 Airport Rd., Martell.
